Students’ Professional Motivation Levels, Factors Affecting Their Motivation, and Their Views Regarding Their Professions: A Vocational School of Health Services Example

This descriptive study was conducted to identify the motivation levels of university students, factors affecting their motivation, and students' opinions concerning professions. The sample consisted 211 students attending Vocational School Health Services. Data were assembled using a “Questionnaire Form” “Motivation Sources Problems Scale”. Frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean values, chi-square, independent group Student t-test, Mann Whitney U, ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis tests used for data analysis. Students’ scores 41.06 ± 7.17 on intrinsic sub-dimension, 20.27±3.15 extrinsic 25.08 6.76 negative with overall score 86.41 12.73. It is found that 91.5% had chosen profession own volition 66.4% regarded as important. In conclusion, students’ high, while low. Helping others, ease finding employment, selecting professions affect professional motivation. Students also thought working hours not excessively demanding wished engage in after graduation.
